What’s in a Food Box?

The following list is the contents of a single food box. Each family receives 1 to 3 boxes depending on the number of people in the household.

  • 2 cans of condensed soup
  • 2 cans of vegetables
  • 1 can of chili or beef stew
  • 1 can of tuna
  • 1 can of spaghetti sauce
  • 1 1lb box of spaghetti noodles
  • 1 box of mac and cheese
  • 2 cans of pinto, northern, or kidney beans
  • 1 package of cornbread mix

When we have extra items, such as fruit, fresh veggies, other canned-meats, soap, bathroom tissue, paper towels, dish washing detergent, etc, we place these in the box also.

Our budget does not allow us to buy these extra items. They can only be given out when they are donated and the Food Stamp program does not allow folks to purchase some of these items. We and our clients are very grateful to receive them.
