Update on Jim Gohlmann

Jim and his son John stopped by the food bank to deliver empty 4-gallon milk boxes. He reports that he is on the mend and he hopes to be back at full speed soon.

Thank you for your prayers on his behalf.

New Chattanooga Food Bank Shoppers

Many thanks to Rhonda Mines and Ed Hooper for volunteering to become shoppers at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank (CAFB).  Much of the food we buy from CAFB costs us about $.19 per pound saving MCCM a great deal of money. For example a case of cereal costs us about the same as a box of cereal at a retail grocery store.

The national average cost of food purchased at a grocery store is $1.59 per pound.

MCCM to Participate in the National Diaper Bank Network

Diaper Banks collect, store and help distribute free diapers to families suffering from financial difficulty.”

Beginning Thursday, November 1 we will begin distributing diapers to our clients who have children in diapers. The Chattanooga Chapter of the National Diaper Bank, “Diaper Duty of Tennesse” and the Marion County Health Department are partnering with MCCM in this effort and at no cost to us. The health department will pickup diapers from the Diaper Bank and deliver them to us as needed. We will distribute 40 diapers per month per diaper-age child.
