"Drive 4 UR Community" Fund Raising Event

On Friday May 23, 2014, from 12 Noon until 6:00 p.m., Moss Motors and Ford Motor Company are sponsoring a fund raising event to benefit the food bank. Scott Collier is chairing the event for MCCM.

Volunteers, we need your help in making the “Drive 4 UR Community” event happen. On the day of the event we will need volunteers to greet the folks who have come to test drive a vehicle and assist them in filling out the registration forms.

Please let Scott (scottcollier@charter.net) know if you are available to come by, drive a vehicle and stay for an hour or two to help with the event. This can a fun and painless earn some needed money for the food bank.

Butterflies and the Season of Lent

The butterfly is the symbol of realized HOPE, especially if you are a caterpillar. Before the caterpillar can become a butterfly it has to die to its ‘caterpillar-ness’ and enter into the chrysalis stage.

Beginning on March 5, Ash Wednesday, and continuing for six weeks ending on Easter Day, some Christian traditions celebrate the Season of Lent, a kind of chrysalis stage, where we reflect on our own ‘caterpillar-ness’ as lived out in our life and our ministries. During Lent we prepare for the great HOPE of Easter and the renewal, rebirth, and revitalization of our call to service, our response to this gift of HOPE we call Easter.

You, because of your commitment to feed the hungry and help folks avoid disconnection of vital utility services, represent HOPE to our friends and neighbors we serve.

Whether, if, or how your tradition celebrates Lent we HOPE that you have a blessed and holy six weeks of Lent.
