Good Neighbors Program

In May of 2008 MCCM initiated another ministry to help our neighbors who are struggling with paying their utility bills. Click here to see our year-to-date results.

Marion County residents, neighbors, who have need of assistance with their utility bills to avoid a disconnection of service from a utility provider will be referred usually by member churches or from the United Way of Greater Chattanooga 211 hotline. While neighbors do not need a referral, a pastoral referral is encouraged.

A neighbor applying for assistance must sign a consent form authorizing their personal information to be added to our Client Management database and show a disconnect notice from a utility – these notices will provide proof of Marion County residency as well.

The maximum grant, issued directly to the utility company, is $70.00. Assistance for any one neighbor will be limited to every 180 days. We set these expectations in the interview process.
