New Freezer Donated

Many thanks to Nonie Webb for donating to us a large chest-type freezer. We have installed this freezer in our truck so that we can ensure freshness of frozen food donations.

Thanks also to Glen Boren for his idea to put the freezer in the back of the truck. This is much cheaper than buying a refrigerated truck.

Vacuum Cleaner Needed at MCCM

This is NOT an April Fools’ Day joke. The current vacuum cleaner we have at the Food Bank no longer works and we are in need of a replacement.

If you are just looking for a reason to buy yourself a new vacuum and want to find a home for your current one please let us know by sending an email to ginger@mccmfbgn.org

A Brief History of April Fools Day

April Fools’ Day (sometimes called April Fool’s Day or All Fools’ Day) is celebrated every year on the first day of April as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other. The jokes and their victims are known as “April fools”. Hoax stories may be reported by the press and other media on this day and explained on subsequent days. Popular since the 19th century, the day is not a national holiday in any country, but it is well known in India, Canada, Europe, Australia, Brazil and the United States.

The earliest recorded association between 1 April and foolishness can be found in Geoffrey Chaucer‘s The Canterbury Tales (1392).

MCCM Board Approves Purchase of New Building

The MCCM board is pleased to announce today the purchase of the former Peoples Bank building on Main Street in Jasper. This facility will allow us to provide drive-thru service for our clients. We are also hoping to modify the ATM machine to allow the ATM to dispense food boxes instead of cash. This will provide service to our clients 24/7 365.25 days per year.
