Sam Anderson was born in Chattanooga, Tn. and educated in Marion Co. except for two years at military school in the mid-sixties. Sam attended several colleges including Samford University pursuing a pharmacy degree. After a change in direction, he received a B.S. in applied organizational management from Tusculum College. He has worked for a national photography company, a local hospital and then for the State of Tennessee. He has been married for 44 years to a beautiful lady he met on a blind date during his junior year in high school. He has two children and four grandchildren. He and his wife are active at First Baptist Church of Jasper.

Sherry Barnett - President

Sherry Barnett has lived in Marion County since 1959 and graduated from high school in South Pittsburg, Tn. She grew up in Decatur, Al where her extended family lives. Further education was completed at Tennessee Wesleyan University where she graduated with a major in business. After graduation, she completed 21 hours of graduate business studies at UTC. She is married to Bob Barnett, and they have two children and three grandchildren. After high school, she worked at both Pittsburg Knitting Mills and U. S. Stove in South Pittsburg for a total of approximately seven years. She left to take a position with the Tennessee Valley Authority where she was employed in the business area for thirty years and then as a contractor for over two additional years. She has been a volunteer at the Marion County food bank for over fifteen years. In addition, she is an active volunteer for the TVA retirees group (BVI) staffing TVA visitors centers.

Derrald Beck - Purchasing & Distribution

Derrald was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, and moved to California as an infant. His childhood education included attending several grades in a one-room classroom in Redwood Creek, California. After a four-year stint in the Air Force, he obtained his Bachelor degree at California State University, Long Beach, and completed his graduate work at Pepperdine University and Missouri State University. His responsibilities as an ordained Baptist minister, classroom teacher and school administrator took Derrald and his family from California to Missouri, Florida, Michigan and Tennessee before his retirement in 1999. He serves as vice moderator of the Sequatchie Valley Baptist Association. Additionally, he is an adult Sunday School teacher at Baptist Hill Church in Jasper where he and his wife, Darlene, are active members. They have four children and ten grandchildren.

Jimmy was raised in Whitwell, TN and graduated from Whitwell High School. He is currently employed at Signal Mountain Cement. He has been married to his wife, Tammy, for 26 years and they have one son. He is an adult Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church Jasper where he and his wife are active members.

Shannon Duggar

Shannon was born in Charleston, S.C. and lived in Knoxville, Atlanta, and Chicago before moving to South Pittsburg in 1974. He has been married to Beth (Bradford) Duggar for almost 39 years, and they have 3 grown sons, 3 grand dogs, and a grand cat. Shannon worked in the banking industry as a branch manager and lender for 20+ years then changed direction and worked in commercial construction until retirement in 2018. He has been a volunteer with the National Cornbread Festival since its inception, and currently works with the Marion County Election Commission during election season, and also serves as vice chairman on the South Pittsburg Housing Authority Board.

Cheryl Hale - Coordinator of Volunteers

Cheryl was born in Germany to a military father and an English teacher mother. She has lived in 10 states, including her favorite, Alaska. Cheryl attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA, where she studied business and marketing. She worked for several healthcare companies in sales, marketing and management until she retired to raise her only daughter with her husband Jim. They lived in Charlottesville, VA for 15 years before officially retiring and moving to Jasper Highlands five years ago. Volunteering is her passion, and she has worked with several food banks and church outreach projects. She and her husband attend Grace Presbyterian Church in Jasper. Cheryl has been volunteering for the Marion Community Food Bank for almost four years and loves helping to meet the food and utility assistance needs of this wonderful community.

George Jackson - Treasurer

George was reared in Victoria, Tennessee. He graduated from Whitwell High School in 1964 as valedictorian. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS in Accounting. He served as the Student Government Treasurer while at MTSU. Upon graduation, he married the lovely Glenna Wells. They have two children, Gwen who is a librarian, and Gena who is a psychologist. George is a member of McKendree United Methodist Church where he has served as Treasurer for over 20 years. After serving in the Army in Vietnam, George passed the CPA exam and became a Certified Public Accountant. He was recruited by Arthur Andersen & Co and practiced with them for over twelve years. Before opening his own practice in Jasper, George functioned as Chief Financial Officer of Miller Reid, Inc. George retired from his accounting practice in 2009 and currently enjoys traveling and volunteering. In addition to being a life member of the American Institute of CPAs, George has always believed in giving back to the community. Some of his civic work includes the County Fair, Chamber of Commerce, SERTOMA club, Solid Waste Disposal, Inc., Marion County Environmental and Industrial Board, Hooper Scholars, G I Brown Trust, Brown Children's Trust, Donal Matthews Trust and others.

Charles McEntyre - Recording Secretary & Good Neighbors

Charlie was raised in Whitwell, Tennessee and graduated from Whitwell High School in 1968. He has a BA in Biology from Vanderbilt University and a MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Alabama and a Master Level Certified Hazardous Materials Manager. Charlie worked for TVA for 38 years in various environmental engineering positions before retiring in 2012. He married his lovely wife Ruthie Stamper McEntyre in 1972 and they have one daughter and two grandsons. Ruthie was an elementary school teacher and librarian and also retired in 2012. Charlie and Ruthie are active members of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church where Charles is currently serving as lay leader. Charles is also assistant chief of the Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department which he joined in 1976. Charlie is also in the Crossroads Ruritan Club where he is currently serving as secretary.

Ann Pryor - Good Neighbors

Ann was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended public schools in Limestone County Ala. After two years working in a doctor’s office, Ann realized she had an interest in Medical Technology. She graduated from MTSU with a B.S. degree in Medical Technology. After graduation, Ann began her career at CHI Memorial in Chattanooga. She and her husband relocated to Memphis while her husband attended Memphis State Law School. While in Memphis, Ann worked at Methodist Hospital as a lead tech in Hematology. After her husband’s completion of law school, Ann returned to Memorial Hospital where she was Supervisor of Hematology Testing for 18 years. The last 13 years at CHI Memorial, Ann over saw the Point of Care Testing program as well as took care of the Laboratory Computer System. In 2008, Ann retried from CHI Memorial after 39 years of employment. Ann is married to Francis W. Pryor Jr., and they reside on a farm outside of Jasper. They are proud parents of two sons and have been blessed with 6 grandchildren. Ann is an active member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She enjoys gardening, playing bridge, watching the grandchildren’s ball games, traveling, and volunteering at MCCM.

Martha Kerekes

Martha was born in Argentia, Newfoundland to a Navy family but grew up in Millington, TN outside of Memphis. She graduated from UTC in 1980 and moved back to Memphis area to start her teaching career. Martha spent 32 years in Arkansas and the Memphis area teaching all things Social Studies as well as computer classes. After retirement in 2014, Martha volunteered at the Mid-South Food Bank, which distributes food to 12 counties in three states, where she helped with reporting data to various organizations like USDA and Feed America. She started volunteering at MCCM in 2019. Martha has been married to David Kerekes, who also volunteers at the Food Bank, for 43 years. They have two daughters and two granddaughters. In her spare time, Martha loves to read, play cards, hike, travel, and support the Food Bank. She attends First Centenary Methodist Church in Chattanooga, TN.
